We Have Learned NOTHING Ryan on Mar 25, 2008 9:16pm

Absolutely horrible story for you to read. However, while this is a horrible thing to hear, and this type of event is indeed seeming to become more commonplace, I find some of the comments from the article almost as disturbing.

Naturally, when stories like this hit the mainstream media, there are those people that blame race. Whether or not race is the issue here isn't my beef. Whats my beef is how quickly it "became" a race issue and how willing everyone was to join in.

Why is it that we can't change. It has to start somewhere folks. We may be from different backgrounds and ethnic groups, but we're all flesh and blood. We're all humankind. How much longer are we going let the color of someone's skin determine our reaction to a given event.

We need to change...humankind needs to change and I think those of us in THIS country are some of the worst offenders. Don't we have enough problems right now? Seriously??

We need to change, the sooner, the better. Change is possible, its not a matter of how...but when.

Follow up: I feel awful for not saying more about the content of the article and what a horrific event this was. This man deserves to be publicly stoned to death, but judgement is not my job. Someday, he'll pay. However, the tragedy of this event goes without saying...I wanted to point out the fact that the comments show that we're still a nation very divided, and as it says in our history books: "A house divided cannot stand."
