What\'s So Maybe About Katie

Okay, the title is unoriginal and yes is a Bare Naked Ladies tune. However, I thought the title was fitting considering the following story.
It appears once again that nobody is safe from the greed of lawyers. The brief summary is this: In 1996 Katie Jones of the UK is given the domain katie.com as a gift by her husband. Four years later a book gets written by a young girl who was victim to a a sexually violent predator she met in a chatroom. The book gets entitle \"Katie.com\" and is published by Penguin. (How dare they give penguins a bad name...).
Anyway, the book\'s author and her lawyer are trying to rip katie.com from it\'s original owner which in my opinion is dead wrong. Feel free to offer her money for it, but don\'t try and brute force her into giving it up. At least give her the option. I am sure that this whole thing will wind up with the lawyers winning out because most people can\'t stand up to the costs of the court to defend such actions. On top of all that, she is getting emails from victims of sexually violent predators and apparently quite a few offers of sexual activity from pedohiles who get their jollies from that sort of thing.
If it turns out that Katie Jones loses her domain, I saw we boycott Penguin, even thought it isn\'t necessarily their company doing the suing, (at least not from what I read...). From what I know, many bloggers are *BIG* readers and maybe it\'d send a message.
Finally, it forces me to have to think about trade-marking lifewithryan.com just in case somebody decides to write a book about some other Ryan or something and call it \"life with ryan.\" Maybe I\'ll just have to write my own book...hmmmmm
What a pain in arse...
