The Curse Continues Ryan on Jun 20, 2005 9:30am

A couple of our nieces were down here from Escanaba, MI participating in some softball tournament. We\'ve only seen them play one other time so we thought we\'d pay a visit to watch. I am sure now, that they are wishing we hadn\'t. They played the Appleton Rockers for their first game and while it was a close back-and-forth type of game, they lost by 2.

They played another game on Saturday at noon that we wanted to go see, and once again, they lost that one, 1 to 0. However, on Sunday they played two more games, but seeing as how it was Father\'s Day, we skipped the 9am game and opted to sleep in. They won that game 13-2, notice our absence.

We got there for the noon game a little early and watched the entire game which took forever particularly because of the 4th inning in which the other team scored 7 or 8 back to back runs after a number of walks while bases were loaded etc. Once again, they lost.

So the curse continues, if we attend a family member\'s sporting event, they can count on losing. I fully expect to be forever banned from the ballpark by our family.

The one thing however that I found kinda cool was the little \"cheers\" that these girls all put together. Some seem pretty original, while other you can tell, have been passed from team to team tournament after tournament. While I found it all quite entertaining, even this morning I find myself singing, \"We\'re gonna rally, rally-rally-rally\" and feeling the urge to stand up and shake my butt, but somehow, I don\'t think my co-workers would approve...

Another thing I noticed is that when these girls make a mistake, or get pulled from the pitchers mound or even the outfield, the flood gates open up and you heart gets broken by their tears. I can\'t imagine being a parent and watching this, it has to drive them crazy. Then I remembered, someday Liv is gonna want to play something like this, and I\'ll be the one biting my nails and providing comfort after a tough round of pitching, etc.

In a way, I look forward to sporting events with Olivia, just so long as the curse is lifted....
