Return of the Toshiba

At this very moment, I am setting up Debian on my Toshiba Satellite Pro 6100. Its finally back from the shop!
Apparently these things have a nasty habit of overheating to the point that it fries some rather essential components such as the hard drive and the system board.
The lovely folks at Toshiba gave all 60 glorious gigs of space to that virus distribution system some people call Windows. I\'ll admint XP Professional is by far better than any previous M$ product, but it still sucks. However, I still \"need\" it because I have to \"support\" it but it now takes up only a third of the space. (That alone was a trick involving Knoppix and a utility called ntfsresize.
Anyway, I\'ll be up the better part of the night tweaking my kernel, (that sounds dirtier than it is) and selecting which software I want on my machine. (So much less bloat that way).
Oh yeah, now that I have my laptop back, I\'ll get those pictures of Ellie up sometime this weekend...maybe.

Those Toshibas get so hot! I had an old Sat Pro 430 CDT in college that honestly burnt my leg one night (especially if a NIC is in the PCMCIA slot). I had similar , but not as severe (maybe from lessons learned), experience with several other Toshiba models. Granted all laptops tend to get warm but had a lot pass through my hands and the Toshibas were definately the worst. I\'m surprised they\'re still having these problems.
