I Can See Clearly Now... Ryan on Oct 06, 2004 6:36am
Yesterday I picked up my brand new glasses. I haven\'t had glasses since my early college days, (they ended up getting smashed to bits when they fell off my neck and got crushed by a few dozen cars before I realized they were gone). I never went back to get a new pair because they were such a light prescription that I didn\'t think it mattered. Eleven years later, and guess what? It mattered...*BIG TIME*.

The whole drive home back from the Saris Rack headquarters, (another story), I kept looking out the top of the lenses and then looking through the lenses comparing how much clearer things were. The answer was *crystal clear*.

I mentioned Saris Racks...well that is the roof rack we have on the Element. I am not at all pleased with the fit, so I went over to talk to the engineers/designers there to see if there was anything better they can do. The pretty much said no, and that they are happy with how the Element is fit. Personally I think it sucks.

The Element has this really nice roof system that they could plug into with a little bit of time, effort and creativity. I\'m no engineer, nor do I claim to be. However, the people I work with, and to some extent me, come up with creative solutions all the time in programming. I am sure the engineers at Saris would amaze themselves with a little brainstorming. They were nice enough guys, but pretty much set that the fit the Element received was the best solution. While I disagree whole-heartedly with that assessment, at least they were willing to meet in the first place, *AND* was please to hear that they\'d cover any sort of damage that may occur.

I guess its off to the drawing board for me...but that\'ll void the warranty, etc...but it\'d still be fun to try to come with a design on my own...*sheesh, I AM a geek*
