Another Reason to Reboot Ryan on Sep 14, 2004 2:12pm
It\'s blasphemous, but since you rarely if ever have to reboot Linux, I must say it helps. (Don\'t worry, there\'s *hidden* meaning here).

So I\'m coding away and running down a little issue. Getting some really strange activity from a form submission. As a last resort, I wanted to start clean so I though, what the hell, and rebooted...(knowing in my heart and head that this would do no good...but stay tuned...)

While a reboot did exaclty as I suspected and the wierd issue was still there, the reboot did clear one thing out quite well...my mind. It bought me some time away from tracking that little bug all over the damn place and gave my brain a chance to clear away the clutter. Within 5 minutes of coming back up, I had found the bug and squished it.

Needless to say, I could have accomplished the same thing by getting up to go to the bathroom, or walking away for five minutes, etc. Sometimes you just need to reboot your brain, if it is using linux.

I suppose that may be one good thing about Windows...you have to take a break, and often, but that is more a a *forced* break...but I digress....
